A month to remember
We are throwing in back to February!
I was beside myself to have may parents and big sis Charlotte come visit and explore Kenya with me.
The month was full of laughter, joys, bumps, heat, amazement, walking and memories.
To summarize the month, we spent a few days in my home in Kitui,
a few days at Lake Naivasha seeing animals, going on boat rides, bicycle rides and hiking.
From Naivasha we ventured into a conservence for a safari to see lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffe, elephants, gazelle, and sooo much more!
After the safari we spent a few days back in Nairobi for small day trips.
The last 4 days we relaxed at the Indian ocean and soalked in the sun :)
For me, the trip opened my eyes again to how life is different in Kenya from Canada, as my mom had many questions to ask... haha
It made me see how beautiful this country is and how much it has to offer!
And, I realized how grateful I am to have a wonderful family that is willing to fly all the way to Kenya and be up for all the adventures I put them through.
I was amazed over and over how tough they are!!
After a few days in Nairobi our first outing was Kitui.
Like any good farmer, we stopped to check the rice crops!
Hellen is one of our farmers who gratefully hosted us for a cup of tea
It wasn't all fun and games... I took advantage of them and put them to work right away :)
But it was a bit much for some... ;)
From Kitui we went west to Lake Naivasha where we saw local animals, went on a boat ride, hike Mt. Longonote, explored the gorge at Hell's Gate and ate delicous fish!
After much adventures in Naivasha we spoiled ourselves with 4 days at the Naiboisho Conservancy just outside of the Masai Mara.
We were in awe with how well we were treated, out tents were beautiful, the hosts very warm, the food delicious and the animals of course were amazing!
From Naiboisho we headed back to Nairobi to kick up our feet a little and do some day trips
Mandazi was a favourite for my family as it was the closest local food to home, rollkuchen :)
We took a day to learn how coffee is grown and processed.
On our way to return our rental car that served us faithfully for 2 weeks it decided it was done with us before we were done with it.
To end off the trip we spent 4 days at the Indian Ocean taking in the rays and enjoying the coastal life
My goal was that by the end of the month my family would have fallen in love with Kenya. I dont know if I convinced them, but I was convinced that this country is a beautiful place with so much to love!
